This Summer in Los Angeles, CA, a 131-year-old heat record was beat! You heard me right, in 1886 the record was set at 95° F in downtown Los Angeles and this July temps have risen to 98° F in downtown Los Angeles, CA (and in the triple digits towards the valley areas!).
So how do you beat the heat with record number temperatures?! I like to relish in little treats that help me through the hot days. They help distract my mind from the fact that my face makeup is melting off.
Referencing the photo above, I have gathered a few of my lifesaving secrets here to share with you:
1. La Croix sparkling water.
Look I have no shame in admitting that I have drank a total of 4 La Croix's today. 4! Want to know what flavors? Of course you don't, but I'm gunna tell you! 1 mango, 1 apricot, and 2 of my all time favorite, coconut! After all, they are just naturally flavored sparkling water that helps keep me hydrated and gives me a break from the regular water-chugging I do all day.
2. An Orange Creamsicle Piece By Paz candle.
Honestly, I light our Orange Creamsicle candle throughout the day to trick my mind into thinking that the ice cream truck is parked in my front yard hand delivering orange creamsicle popsicles through my window every hour on the hour. My house smells amazing and my mind is transported, win win.
Raise your hand if your skin gets super dry in the Summer time! This moisture stick will rehydrate dry skin and give it a boost of antioxidants. I like to use it under my eyes to wake them up in the morning and around my mouth where my skin tends to get dry. They have a whole range of natural skincare products that I can't wait to get my hands on! I feature a rosewater I have been using this Summer next, but Cocokind also has a wonderful rosewater spritz as well.
I can't even begin to tell you how many times a day I spray my face with this stuff. It instantly cools down my skin and as it dries I can feel it toning my skin. I'm in love. Hint Hint to my Hubby: forget the bouquet of roses for Valentine's Day..I'll take a bouquet of this please.
5. Earth Theraputics eye mask
This is one of my secret weapons every day. This eye mask has a removable pillow filler that is filled with rice pieces. You can either heat it up or freeze it depending on what you are feeling. Lately it's been living in the freezer. I pull it out and, without putting it back into the eye mask casing, I slap that pillow directly onto my neck for an instant cool-down! I got mine from Bed Bath & Beyond.
6. Lightweight cotton dress from Clad & Cloth.
In the Summer, when the heat is unbearable, you just have to live in a flowy, lightweight dress. My favorite one to bop around in right now is this extremely soft cotton dress from Clad & Cloth. It has just the right flow made from the perfect material. Bonus: It's made in the USA.
MY LAST TIP FOR YOU IS THIS:
Go out and get some grapes, freeze them overnight, then eat them like they are candy all day. You will thank me later when you get a much-welcomed brain freeze on this hot Summer day!
